Which VST do I need?

Hi,
Well I've tried to work this out on my own and have had no luck, so I'd appreciate any help on this from anyone.
I do some internet dj-ing.The broadcast software I use supports VST plugins.
What I am trying to do is to get my voice through the mic to be all roughly the same loudness level.I'd like to make the loud quieter and the quieter loud so they all hit roughly the same range on the meters (-5 to -7)
What type of VST do I need for this?Can you recommend a specific one and how to tweak the settings?

No mixer.
Echo Gina3g soundcard.
The software is Sam Broadcaster 3.
SM57 for a mic.
And I'm broadcasting live via internet.

The device you are looking for is called a compressor. It does just what you're looking for - compresses the loudness (or 'dynamic range') of whatever you put thru it.

Here's a link to a good free one that has 'vocal' presets --- LINK. No VST plugin is going to work on the way in, meaning while you are talking live. It only works after the material has been recorded.

If you're using a flexible routing sequencer like Reaper the answer is yes.

For most other programs the answer is no. I probably should have mentioned that lil' nugget...

And that reminds me that I get a chance here to plug Reaper --- the best $40 a man or beast can spend on an audio/midi sequencer. Here's a LINK to the Reaper download page.
