I mix with yorkville ysm1p's and i notice that i dont get an accurate bass response. when i listen to it on a stereo or in my car the bass is way too loud. so i figured i should get a subwoofer. i havent researched them too much but i want something not too expensive. any suggestions. thanks

Maybe you should first look into your mixing environment. You could be sitting in a big null therefore over compensating low frequencies. Adding a sub may make the problem even worse. I had real bad problems at first until I treated my room. Mixing is so much easier now.

i was thinking about that but i wasnt sure what kind of treatment i would use to bring out the bass frequencies more.
It might have something to do with the way the monitors are set in the back. im not sure

Velodyne makes a (VX series?) sub for around $250... You could run that in parallel with your monitors (instead of entering the sub's crossover into the equation).
