I am looking for the lowest latency card I can get, would firewire be better than USB 2.0? I dont have pci slots, so those cards are out. I am looking to spend about 200-300 and be able to record at least tracks at once.

I know this is out of my price range, but how good is the Apogee duet?(I am thinking of possibly saving up and getting this one if you all think its worth the price)

Thanks

Firewire is definitely the way to go. Take a look at the Echo firewire interfaces, like the Audiofire2 or Audiofire4.

Thanks for the responses. I have an ART Tps 2 preamp, would I need to use this or do the interfaces have preamps in them?

I think most of the firewire interfaces are coming with pres but they will vary to their quality, so having a stand alone could be good.

The OP mentioned Echo which is a great company that knows how to write drivers. +1 for Echo Audio.

I would always recommend anyone of the MOTU interfaces. They are always quick on delivering new drivers when Apple decides to update its OS and whereas most budget manufacturers make their interfaces primarely for win PCs, MOTU has always supported the Mac platform.
