Im about to get a sound card but not sure which one to get?
At the moment I have a old AWE 64 and its causing broblems which I wont go into now but latency of MIDI notes is the bigest broblem I press a key and sometimes it wont sound or just a blip with come through.

Anyway! Here is the spec of my computer.

PII 333 192meg 6.4gig HD Matrox G200 Yamaha CD recorder.
Im using a Korg X5 and a Roland JV1080.

I wish to use my synths for sounds and about 8 max stereo
audio tracks for samples.
I was going to get a SB Live Plantium but thought that a Yamaha SW100XG card would be better because I only have a PII 333 for processing power as I also wish to to all my marstering with in the computer then burn on to CD.

The Yamaha would be better overall but not because the computer is only a PII 333. That's pretty irrelevant to your decision unless you are maybe going to consider one of the Aardvark cards that has some DSP effect which you can use to reduce your need for DirectX plug-ins on your audio tracks.

For eight tracks, you should be OK with this system.

But if you are having bad latency problems with the AWE64, there may be something going on above and beyond the soundcard. I had an AWE64 in a P-100 and a P-200 MMX and there was no detectable latency between hitting a key on the keyboard and the MIDI sound being triggered.
