My Yamaha AW16G can act as a control surface for a number of recording softwares:

Protools (pc platform)
Sonar
Cakewalk
Cubase
Logic Audio(?)

But I have access to more than these. Regardless of the control compatibility, what software would you suggest & why?

Well if your running the PC platform, you probably don't want Logic. They discontinued their PC line after apple took them over a few months back. Also, Cakewalk and Sonar are the same product line/company...Sonar is is what cakewalk 9 turned into.

It really depends what you want to be doing with your recording, and how much your willing to learn, as well as many other things.

Personally I use Cubase SX, but I have friends that run Sonar as well. SX seems (to me) to be more powerful than Sonar, but has a steeper learning curve.

Let us know what you want your end result to be and people can probably help you more.

I disagree!

Download the demos and try for yourself. Noone can tell you what program and interface you want to work with, you'll have to figure that yourself.... ;)
