which software - direct monitoring

Which recording software programs support Direct Monitoring? I'm trying to use the function on my Tascam 122 to eliminate latency but I have discovered that both programs I have (Acoustica Mixcraft & Cool Edit Pro 2.0) do not handle this? Help!

If you flip the little switch on the front of the US-122 that says 'direct' on it there's a handy volume knob right next to it. This will bring in whatever is going into the input of the US-122 as well as bringing back the tracks you are overdubbing along with.

In other words, it's a hardware thing not a software thing.

Either software package you have should be almost free from latency if you use this feature of the US-122.
 
Thanks ssscientist (you can call me 'janitor' if you like) - I have discovered that neither Cool Edit Pro or Mixcraft support any Asio drivers. Does this change anything in what you just told me, or am I misunderstanding Asio altogether?

The drivers you are using pertain to the software only.

This is your hardware that is under discussion.

And PLEASE stop this infernal crossposting!
