I have a Kurzweil performance controller keyboard, SBLive soundcard, CoolEdit Pro but need simple(I mean dead easy, gimby simple, less than 3 months learning curve) software to handle recording midi tracks from the keyboard. I also need some classical instrument sound samples and basic scoring notation.

Which sequencing/music studio software package should I consider purchasing?
Thanks.

I believe Sonar is the easiest. Why don't you just download the demos and try them?

I would say SONAR, also (especially, if you want scoring notation).

PS: You might want to take a look at somerof the Sonic Foundry products.

sound forge

Luckily I have Sound Forge, what will it do that Sonar won't or my other program Cool Edit Pro? I have looked briefly at Sound Forge but I couldn't really tell why it was better than CEP?
Do I need a midi interface? Seems like the Soundblaster does the trick.
I will definitely try the demos.
Thanks.

Sound Forge is a powerful audio editor. Sonar is a multitrack audio/MIDI sequencer with looping capabilities. CEP, to my knowledge does audio sequencing and editing but neither as well as the stand alone programs. Also, I don't think CEP does MIDI sequencing.
