Which programs support 88.2 kHz sampling rate?

I'm using a dbx 386 to do analog/digital conversion going into a Delta Dio 2496, and it has sampling rate options of 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHz.

Since the end goal is to mix down into 16 bit/44.1 kHz CD format, it would seem that using 88.2 sampling for tracking would yield less errors in the down conversion process.

I downloaded the Sonar 2.0 demo, and discovered two things. First, it doesn't seem to have an 88.2 kHz sampling option. 44.1, 48, and 96 (along with numerous below 44.1 options) were there. Second, it doesn't seem to like my Delta Dio 2496 - at least not the currently installed drivers. It says all the Delta components are either not compatible with that audio format (?) or already in use. Rebooting to ensure they weren't actually already in use didn't help. I simply couldn't select the Delta as an input source.

So, that rules out Sonar I guess. I downloaded the n-Track demo, and it was buggy as hell. Computer constantly locked up, and the program would give an "error generated, exiting program" about every ten minutes. But, it seemed to like my soundcard, and I could at least get some quick and dirty tracks to check out the signal chain. I couldn't tell if it had an 88.2 kHz option, but I don't think that's the software for me regardless.

Logic is done with PC's, right? That leaves what... Soundforge, Cubase, Nuendo, CoolEdit Pro, Samplitude... ?? I really have no experience with any of these yet, and I'm getting frustrated with this whole "download the demo version" experience. Two strikes so far... big strikes.

So... perhaps narrowing it down to 88.2 capable software would be a way to limit the choices?

Or, is it that big of a deal working in 88.2 instead of just using 96 kHz and having some conversion weirdness? Is it audible?
