I know I asked a similar question like this before, but I have a couple more mics to use now. I'll be recording a church worship service live, and will have 8 channels to work with.

The band consists of:

1 Larrivee Acoustic (DV05E) with Fishman Blender (I plan on going direct)
1 Electric Guitar through Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb
1 Bass Guitar
1 Vocal
1 Drum Kit

These are the mics:

2 Oktava Mk012
1 Audio Technica AT4040
1 Audio Technica Pro25
1 Shure SM57
1 Shure SM58
1 Sennheiser e835
1 Studio Projects B1

I was thinking about using the MK012's for drum overheads, thePro25 on the kick, the e835 on snare, the SM57 on the guitar cab, and the SM58 for vocals. I'm assuming that using too many condensers in a live app might cause headaches, hence leaving out the AT4040 and SP B1. Our sanctuary is not that large (it could squeeze in maybe 80-100 people).

Any changes or suggestions?
Thanks.

Stick as many condensers in as you like. Use the mic that suits the crime.

I only use 1 dyno and that is my kick drum mic all the others get 48v shoved up their arses.

condensers won't be a headache and if you're a little bit smart in your placing you can increase the 'reality' of the recording tenfold, because they pick up so much more room.

Thanks.

So the Shure SM57 on the guitar cab will be replaced by the SP B1, and the SM58 on the vocals will be replaced by the AT4040. Any other suggestions?

or you could use a condenser a little way back just to add some space to the whole thing?

i don't know if it's necessarily a good one but i do know that my most common problem with live recordings is that they sound like bad studio recordings i.e. like they've been rushed and no-one's spent time on the eq, reverb etc.

Mixer?

What mixer are you using? It looks like everything except the drums can have a (supplemental) direct feed.

I'm going to go through two Aardvark DP2496's to give me eight channels with decent pre's and phantom power. I'm going to monitor this through our house Peavy system.
