Which twin MIC PRE

I use Creamware LUNA and AKG 414 mic.
I intend to record vocals, bass, stereo acc.guitars, keyboards
and lot of acoustic instruments.
Music is ethno, so I'd prefer clean and warm sound.
Budget is up to 400-500 e.

My head is full : M Audio DMP3... Rane DMS 22...TL Audio...
SM ProAudio Redvalve SM TB 202... DBX 386,...DBX Mini Pre...
Behringer ULTRAGAIN PRO, or ...

Help me, please !

There is another thread here with good reasons why to skip the Rane MS1-B. It's fine at $35 used on eBay, but never buy it new.

You need the FMR RNP and it's brother the RNC (compressor.) Two channels for stereo keyboards. Very decent bass DI. Very clean but with some nice "bite" to it. Don't know if you can get them where you are though. But these are what you "need." :D

I don't know of any reasons -- aside from maybe living next to a radio tower -- to skip on an MS-1B. At $150, it might be one of the best bargains in audio.

Rane MS 1B

Could I use Rane MS 1B as DI ( for bass guitar, acc.guitar, keyboards...)?

I suppose the final proof is in the unit just doing its job, and ignore the circuit nit picking.

My Rane MLM42 and MLM82a both work great, and have very nice sound. Both have the INA163 circuits.

I have need for a tiny (portable) 1 channel preamp with +48v and optional polarity invert. The RNP is out of the price range for what I need, so this leaves the VTB1 and the MS1b. Price and eBay availability will be the determining factor.

Right now I am absolutely LOVING my Roland MMP2. Clean gain and lots of character...depending on your mic preamp modeling. The mic modeling is okay, but ehte preamp modeling is VERY nice. And I got it for 250 new. I think it's much better than my DMP3 and MP20.

Although, I am going to get it replaced because of what I think is a bum digital out. Should get a new unit Friday...

Divine,

If you're looking for a 2-channel mic pre in the $500 region with DI inputs for bass / keys, etc. then you should be looking at the FMR Audio RNP.
