Hi, My hobby is Amateur "HAM" Radio....I enjoy the ESSB side of the hobby which allows us to tweak our transmitted voice to where it sounds like a FM Station. It is voice/speech only, and I use a few pieces of rack gear to improve the outgoing speech such as the Behringer Mic2200 tube pre for 48v phantom, a DEQ24956, a dbx eq, symetrix 528e.....the DEQ2496 isn't used as much (still trying to learn how to use it...lol) We TX about 4k wide .... a good example of what i'm doing is at www dot nu9n dot com, eSSB Extended Single Sideband Audio for Amateur Radio, John really does this well.
My last mic was a dynamic.... EV RE27....I would like to go to a condenser now. Here are a few that I have looked at / been suggested.
Neumann TLM 102 (I don't like the size) & TLM 103
Rode NT1A / NT2A (looked at the NT1A...seemed lite, not much to it)
Audio Technica AT4040 / 4047 / 4050
Studio Projects C1 / B3
Blue Mouse
Mojave MA201 Fet
AKG C414

I think I have my choice narrowed to the Mojave, Blue, And TLM 103 (I really like the 103)

But....are these overkill for my application?

Are there others to seriously consider?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

Yes...I'm well aware of eham....however, the ESSB side of the hobby uses the mics like are used for music applications and such.....so I was wanting advice from people who have mics like I mentioned..... google VooDoo audio and you will see tons of rack gear, and mics of all sorts like are mentioned here....thx

Size really doesn't matter you should seriously consider the Neumann TLM 102.
And if your looking for real gooey lush vocals try running them through a FMR Audio ~ Really Nice Levelling Amplifier (RNLA) Try here. ;) And crank that unit right up!

Oh I liked the RE27 fine.....got in a pich for $$$.........Now just want to try a condenser.

Steve next time something like that comes up stop in here and look for me to sell our stuff.

What do you think of that RNLA?

Isn't the EV RE27 the microphone that Art Bell uses?
