yes
wednesday is the day. i'm getting my gibson lp. should be great.

heres the thing. should i get a studio, and upgrade the hardware, or get a classic. it seems to me it'd be cheaper to get the studio+upgrade, but is the build quality not as nice? are studios pieces of shit when compared to classics?

thanks.

The studio is still a good guitar, just not as fancy as the classic. No M.O.P. inlays, fancy trim, less expensive p/u's, tuners, etc. If money is not an issue, and you perform live, the classic is the way to go.

I have worked long and hard,.....well maybe not hard.....for my Les Pauls, and I can't go passed the Customs. More expensive but I love em! :)

les paul ?

if you have the cash get the best one you can ... if you go the cheaper route you will regrett it later ...... that said play as many as you can .... there are great studio's great standard's great custom's ..... there are also crappy studio's,standard's,custom's ..... play it through a amp that is similar to your's if possible. try it w/ overdrive, try it clean, take your time you ... close your eyes when you play it... find one that speaks to you .......you have to live w/ it for a long time... it will become part of you ,part of your music ..... be sure you are happy w/ your decision ...... i have a black custom that i truley love ...... but my main gigin guitar is a epiphone les paul deluxe ....... good luck hope you find the one ..............

dave's right..
probalby the best thing you can do, is to take your time.

and don't discount your local used market.

You're getting a Les Paul and you don't know which one? Is someone giving it to you? The differences between the various LP models, tonal and cosmetic, are so wide and the dollar costs so different that I'm not sure you should be getting any Les Paul at all until you've done some homework. You won't appreciate it.

tom18222, I think that the LPs that come out of the Gibson USA shop have good overall build quality in terms of being well put together. But there can be a lot of variation in the wood used and this can have a big effect on the tone.

As others have said, this is a situation where getting your hands on a few examples is a must - and don't assume that one Classic Antique Cherry Burst is going to sound or feel anything like another.
