Which keyboard?

Ok imagine you saw me on the street and I was all..."Man I'd love to get my hands on a 76 key Korg Triton LE because I've heard so many good things about them" And then I said..."Holy crap! almost 4000$ Canadian? I can't afford that!"
What would you recommend as a cheaper alternative?
My main requirements are a good piano sound and some really nice orchestra and horn pads.
Anyone?

Roland XV-2020 or XV-5050 with the SRX-06 orchestra and the SRX-02 piano cards. Any midi keyboard/motherboard to drive it.

Emu PK6

The Emu PK6 just lowered its list price from 1295 to 895 and it retails at Guitar Center for 399.99! It's an awesome board, I just got it for Christmas. It has 61 keys and 64 polyphony, and it has 3 expansion slots for Emu expansion cards. Go to musiciansfriend.com and look at the specs. It is an AWESOME board for the money. My only criticism: the saxes. They are unusable. But the pianos, electric pianos (definately the boards specialty - the b3s, wurlys, clavs and rhodes are incredible) , strings, pads, synths, arpeggiators, drums, and low brass are outstanding.

Check it out! I promise you'll love it (and the price tag!)

Try to find a used one. As an alternative, try to find a used Motif. Since Motif just came out with an updated model, there are sure to be some people out there selling their Motif's to update knowing that they cannot get so much for them bot not caring because they have to have the latest model.

Also, I think there are other models of the Triton that are stripped down and cheaper. There are some that you can but and then add the sampling later to save money or lessen the impact.

Then there is the Roland Fantom I believe. The other keyboards mentioned above are not of the type of the Triton. The Triton is a main keyboared with strong basic meat and potatoes sounds, necessary functions, etc. It is the type of keyboard that makes a perfect base for your system because it is so comprehensive.

You should find a way to get what you like. In the end, you will find you still want the keyboard you liked, not the substitute and you might be sorry you did not save a bit more to get what you truly, truly love. Remember, these purchases can be for life.
