the enermax whisper series or the quiet pc (zalman) PSU's?

Read this...

The conclusion is...
I've been asked by several readers to add this paragraph about noise the PSU generates. Well, if I consider a regular PSU noisy, and a temperature regulated PSU medium, I can say that in a normal room this PSU is noiseless. For that I mean that you need to put your ears really close to the fan to hear it spinning, and even then it's just a low noise. It's about the same as the Zalman's PSU. For comparison, the Enermax wishper is noisier because of its dual fan design.

Having said that.. I'm still gonna go with the Enermax. The Quiet PC (and Zalman) PSU's top out at 300W, and I like the advantage of the extra 50W from the Enermax EG365P-VE (FC). I think I saw a rating on the Enermax of 27db and a rating of 26.4db on the Quiet PC,... so the diference isn't all that great. And I can pick up an Enermax for 50 bucks, while the cheapest Zalman I found was $70.

Just to let everyone know, just have some regular powersupply, but it happens to have a Globalwin fan it in, and it is the quietest thing i've ever (not?)heard. It's just silent, partly because the fan has a surprising amount of room between the edges of the plastic case and the fan blades. So if you want to quite down your comp with out spending $$$ check them fans out.

yeah the maximun 300W thing put me off too...

do you know any online stores that ship the enermax whisper series internationally (not using pay pal)? because i can't find any.

thanks

Check out this page on Pricewatch.

There's aboot 10 vendors to choose from on the Enermax EG365P-VE and I'm sure all of em accept credit cards and you might find a couple who ship internationally.

I got one of the most expensive Zalmans' for $42 bucks- has a speed controller and an unbelievable machined heatsink. Very silent also in silent mode.
Do a seach before you pay full price.

but the enermax seems to be so much better performance-wise;.. more power connectors, two fans (AMD stylee) and such... ahhh, and pricewatch 'international' shippers ship to those APO places... this sucks

I assure you-- whichever fan you get. You'll still be recording the exact same music. try not to be so critical.

very true... so the zalman is quieter, but the enermax has a higher wattage... which would you choose?

I use Zalman... just because I read up on it.. specs looked good.. so I bought it and love it. I hope it works out for ya!

what is your system? i mean 300W doesnt seem like a lot of power...

I am running a P3 750
2 HD's
2 CD's
1 AGP Geforce 3
1 Delta RMDB
1 SB

All on a 300W power supply. How much power do you need?

Tex.. in your instance I would say your meeting the minimum PSU requirement. I have a table in one of my books on PSU vs. PC component consumption. You'd have to get all the values off all your devices ...including PCI cards to figure power consuption.

I run a Silent 400 watt from PC Power and Cooling. Best PS for my needs.

yes its quiet.its just as silent as my CPU fan. Its an excellent PS. The price is kinda steep though.

yeah i just looked at the rpice... i could buy almost three enermax's with that!
