For recording vocals... the M-Audio Delta 1010lt, M-Audio Audiophile 2496, or the M-Audio Audiophile 192?

I think the Audiophile 192 uses better converters than the other two.

But I would be more concerned with preamps, microphones, the room, monitoring etc...than which of them three cards. Just my 2 cents thrown in. :)

best audio card?

I purchased an RME fireface and really like it. It set up with no problems including updating the drivers and software. Best features are the internal routing capability........worth a significant extra right there. Works well with my cubase SL3. No problems!....yet.

You're set up is only as good as the weakest link in your audio chain. As therage says, focus on all the equipment rather than one single thing.

Crap in=crap out. You can't polish a turd.

I understand when you say your set up is only as good as the weakest link in your audio chain... thats exactly why im upgrading my equipment... and the soundcard just so happens to be one of them... does anyone else know any good soundcards in case i dont choose one of these?

what is your current soundcard?

It really depends on how much you want to spend. If you only need one input, the audiophilie 192 may be a good choice. If you want to spend more there's RME and MOTU. If you really wanna spend more, there's lynx (i have heard awsome things from these cards).

If you wanna go even a further step up, i think you can get standalone A/D converters. Some, such apox, are really high quality and cost a lot. I don' t know much about them as they are way out of my price range. To use these, i would think that you would need equally nice preamps, mics etc.

currently all i have is... *lowers head in shame*... the soundcard that my PC came with.. id be willing to spend up to $200

with a $200 budget, the audiophilie is probably the way to do. you may also want to check out the 0404 by e-mu

i was told to stay away from anything e-mu haha...

The emu 1820m is doing great for me on one of my production machines. Better convertors too.

yea but the 1820m isnt exactly in my price range..

True, but there are cheaper models with the same convertors.
