Just wondering which OS you guys recommend, i have Vista Ultimate 64 bit but it's a bit buggy, i am running Cubase 5. I am thinking of changing the OS but i need to run Premiere Pro as well.

Thanks for that interesting read.

I like Sweetwater's optimization guide. Covers a lot of the bases, then kicks you over to Black Viper if that's not enough. Another op guide I saw recommended disabling ALL services....made me angry. People's computers will be unusable. There are services that are required for 7 to run. Anyway, it IS a good read.
Anyway, stick with 7 for the moment. There may be thousands out there running 8 and "getting by just fine", but 7 is stable and known. Answers are a lot easier to get when you have problems, etc. etc. etc.

Yeh i read that guide too, recommends turning off the USB slots! thought it was strange, looks like it's going to 7 then.
Shame there is not a dedicated OS just for Music and film production/media, we are still quite backward with these OSystems.

Turning off USB slots? What guide says that? I shall bring death upon it! lol

It may have just been a misunderstanding or typo. You want to shut off 'sleep' for USB slots so that they do not shut down when idle. This is a power saving thing that can be the default on many systems, especially laptops.

I HATE power saving options.. I get it for work/laptop type stuff but in audio production it sucks

Windows XP, IMO, provided you have an older machine. But Windows 7 should run it just fine as well.

Cheers :)
