Which system is better for recording a regular guitar band? A Roland "VS-1680" or a "Digi-001 Factory" I know its kind of an open question but give her a whack anyway...

I'm not very familiar with either of these units, but I believe the Roland is a stand alone workstation, and the Digi is a PCI interface for a computer. If you have a computer capable of multitracking, go with the Digi.

if you have a MAC go with the digi... if you have a Pc you can get a better recording interface

Are you familiar/good with computers? Then I'd recommend the Digi or something similar, like a delta 1010 and logic audio or something. If you need something portable, simple and reliable, go with the roland.
As to which to get if you go with a computer, the digi doesn't work well with alot of stuff, and its advisable to build your own, or buy from a DAW builder. I built my own, and its doing pretty well so far.
