Hi. I'm looking to buy a audio interface, either USB or Firewire so I can use in on either a PC or laptop. Does anyone have experience with either for Firewire 410 or Firebox? I'm mostly going to be recording an acoustic guitar and vocals, but it would be nice to have more then 2 inputs just in case. I have also been looking at the Mbox. I don't know much about this sort of thing so any help would be great.

Thanks alot.

I'd come up with a little more and get the Presonus Firepod.

wow the firebox seems like a lot of money for what you get...

If you decide for M-Audio, you can be sure that you get the max for your money.. their product quality and support is great.

You can also check Edirol UA-5, which I use. Basically same thing as 410 and Firebox... just USB.

Is there something that makes the Firewire 410 better then the Firebox? Both are the same price.

I've had the Firebox for about a week now and it has been working great. I did think about getting the Firepod but for the money I had to spend I also wanted to get a mixer so I decided that 4 inputs at a time was good enough for my needs. I have yet to record my band so I don't know how that will work out. I can get pretty decent results with drums by putting the kick and snare on their own channels and using the other two for overheads and close mic'ing toms. I mostly record myself playing everything so it works for me.

If you need to record a full band playing at once then I would go with the Firepod.

dont buy those brand...

M-audio and presonus r suck product !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have both of them n they r crap !!!!!!!!

trust me ... u will have alot trouble with ur computer !!!!!!!!!!

go with Echo pruduct.. brother !!!

I love it when people get on here and bash products with no real technical information to back it up, just say that it sucks and it will mess up your computer.

I own a firepod and I used to own the Echo Indigo IO. I bought the Indigo in order to be able to do mixing and things on the go, without having to lug around the Firepod to work on a project. What I found however, is that the Echo card somehow conflicted heavily with the Firepod drivers, and since the Firepod is far superior (though more expensive), the Echo Card had to go.

Other than that incident with the Echo Indigo, I have had zero problems with the Firepod, and have done several sessions with it, without even a hickup. I've also heard that M-Audio products have great driver support and are overall very stable, but I have not used them ever, so I cannot comment.
