Which IDE channel?

Tommorow i'm going to buy a 120 gig HD for all my audio storage and work just wondering if it matters which ide channel i hook it up to, performance wise. (using Cubase)

At the moment i have my O/S HD (partitioned) and cdrom on channel 1 and my burner on channel 2.

Also any suggestions on what type of HD i should be looking at, i notice some have different buffer sizes and stuff.

You could put it on the secondary channel with it as master and your burner as slave.

I'm a fan of the Seagate Barracudda's, quiet drives. As for buffer, hard drives are not the bottleneck for recording anyway so I wouldn't be to concerned over that spec. 7200RPM for sure, 2MB or 8MB whatever. Maxtor's are decent as well.
