Which guitar pedal/direct box?

I know nothing about the guitar, but need to find something for our guitarist to get a better direct recorded sound and better live sound. Basically, we've got a budget of $200 for this thing - and need it to first have a good DI feature, and an assortment of good effects. Also an easy to use switch board. Some must haves for effects are:

-delay/flange
-noise reduction
-chorus
-echo
-tuner

I probably sound like a total noob, but I know nothing about guitar. Any recommendations on the best way to go for $200 or less?

For 200 or less, you could probably stretch it out hunting for some deals at local pawn shops. The few around my part of the world sell DOD, Boss, and other pedals anywhere from $15 to $40. Sometimes they look like ass, and maybe need some duct tape, but they work well. Just be sure you try them out first, make sure all the sounds come out as they should...

Everyone I know of down the road says that they much prefer the sound of individual effects pedals chained together, compared to the sounds produced from the all-in-wonder units out there. More than that, if the all-in-one craps out, you're out ALL your effects until you get a new one. Then you have to reset presets, etc...

What do you mean by switchboard? D'you mean somethin to turn the effects on and off easily?

I'd scrape together another $50 or so, and buy the individual pedals, and a Behringer DI-100 Direct box (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=live/search/detail/base_pid/182452/ - $35 at GuitarCenter, will do everything you'll ever need in a DI box, quality sound). Also, unless you're changing or fixing tuning mid-show, you can save a few bucks by getting a personal guitar tuner, rather than a pedal.
