Hey. I just have gotten a Woland BR1180Cd studio (which I love), and with it came a CD of drum loops for songs. By this I mean that there are like 6 'songs' of loops on the CD, each one being a different feel and tempo. Each 'song' is comprised of 5 or 6 elements, which normal people are now freely able to call phrases. ie one bar intro, 4bar verse, 4bar chorus, 4 bar break, final crash, this type of stuff. Then you just line the buggers up like a train to suit your own song. (The supplied one was from Discrete Drums)

Yes, Grasshopper, This is what I seek.

Does anyone know of other Cds that are like this that have at least some kind of Balls...............?

Now, I don't have a sampler at all atall, so I can't use single drum hit type samples, no matter how troglo they may be.

Any wee bit of help would be greatly appreciated!

Never used 'em but folks say "drums from hell" is the best one.

The word on the streets for drum "phrases" is loops, just as you pointed out. Do a search on this website or on a search engine. There's many.

Here's one option I found with google: http://www.sessiondrummer.co.uk/

Discrete Drums, as you've sampled, is (what I've read and tested) the best and most complete.... the price is a rather high, but the room tracks and the extra percussion (version II) are tops

Good Luck

Hey thanks Jake and Chris.

Helpful, helpful.

Ok, now I'm worried. Are any people at all making ... satisfying music using loops? I've worked with a few very talented drummers, and I've programmed various drum machines over the years. My programming skills are 'sufficient' but offensively repetitive.

I now have a nasty little studio in the basement here. Live drums are not a possibility. What do people do? I have a drum machine, an Alesis SR 16, but it bores the hell out of me.

One (gulp) expensive option would be to hire a drummer for my material and use a local studio to track just the drums. Then I would overdub my stuff later here in the grotto.

I have no idea how much that would cost.

So I guess my new ask is for options & alternatives for rhythm tracks for a 1 horse studio.

thanks agin' J & C
