I don't own any controllers but I plan on buying a couple here soon.
Mainly I want to get a keyboard, DJ, and Pad Controllers.
I am going to get about $550ish, by the end of the month, and I have been debating on what I should get.
First the MPK61, seems to be a must have, and for the price of $389, I would be dumb not to get it, especially if I get any keyboard. The MPK49 is $330, so $50 more its worth it.
Secondly, I wanted to buy one other piece, so I figured I would buy the most expensive, which would be the MIXtrack Pro from Numark for $199.
That would be the $550ish I get.
Then I have been saving and will continue to save for the pad controllers.
There are several of them that are fairly priced, they are the LaunchPAD, APC20/40, padKontrol, and BFD/BCR2000.
I should have enough for either the Launchpad or the APC20 by the time I get that $550ish. I am leaning heavily on the Launchpad for the first pad controller.
After that I would continue to save and probably every end of the month be able to buy each of the rest.
It would go in this order depending on much I can save and if I get some parttimer:
APC20($107) then padKontrol($170) then APC40($299). Once I get this far I don't know how much I will need the BCR/BFD, I just know that all these items are wonderful. I have used most of these prodcuts and have watched every video I can.
My question is, does this sound like a good idea, or should I change something?
I know that the APC20 isn't as good as the APC40, but it sells for about 107$, which is a steal if you don't have either the 20/40. So i would get the 20, then the 40 later on, making one hell of a pair!
The padKontrol from what I have read has the best pads, which I could pretty much use for a drum machine through ableton and for many other things also. I have touched the pads a few times, but they weren't on, but i saw how easily people can use it on the internet.
The Behringer line of controllers is used by my favorite music, and the BCR is top notch for a behringer product, but they would come last for now, since I have immedite needs for the others, on account I use Ableton!
THe novation launchpad is amazing. I was going to get the apc20, until I found out about the novation pad's insanely coolness!
Then for the MPK61, i figure it pretty much has a MPD built into the top of it, so need for one this soon. With the upgrade, I can make the pads just as sensitve as the same MPC's. With the MPK, it would be the center piece of my studio, with all these controllers to add on the more functionality.
I am straight PC recording and will be doing some live things this summer, nothing big, mainly parties, so having both in and out of studio equipment is a must, thats why I want the behringers for live use!
Anyways if you have comments please do so, I kind of scrambled, but I just finished going through everything and howmuch I will have. I just can't wait for the mpk61, mixtrack pro and launchpad.
