I've never used a compressor with my amp, but I've grown to like the one in my J-Station. You guys nave any recomendations?

Firebird, I am the original compressor junkie, I love the sound and the sustain, plus the fact that you can have your action so low that it slaps the fret board and the compressor removes it, sheer delight.
I use an old, about 1980, Boss CS-2, remember to use it first in your signal chain, particularly if you use distortion pedals.

Use and enjoy.

The CS-2 is great!!
The CS-3 is pretty good too, slams a little harder than CS-2.
I prefer CS-3 for rythm, and CS-2 for leads.

Hell, Firebird, you've been here long enough to know the answer to that is the RNC for $175.

The boss pedals are decent for guitar but you would be able to use the RNC on everything.

The RNC is a pro studio compressor, very transparent.
The Boss is a cheap piece of s**t, and that`s why it`so great on guitar!!!!
It colors the sound in a wonderful way, and it`s attack is really nasty.

I have two RNC`s , but I always prefer the Boss on guitars
But I of course use the RNC to smooth out dynamics....

Thanks Tex, But I was looking for a small stomp box compressor.

I bought the Boss and I like it a lot.

I don't have a POD, I have a J-Station. I would't say I like it better. It's just a lot easier to use on the fly.

I'd Probably use the J if I was with a band that did all that midi stuff and used a computer. I like the idea of the computer doing all the work and remembering all the settings.

Tex, I have never heard of the RNC, is it used as in a stompbox or as a plug in or what?
I have been using my Boss as a compressor on mic and guitar simply because it was there.

Hey how come no one has said anything about Alesis Nanocomp?

Not that it makes any difference now, since you bought the Boss, but I dig the MXR Dynacomp a bunch. I have a Boss CS-3 too, which I like, but I take the MXR on my gigs. They each have their own flavor, sonically speaking.

I have an old Dyna-comp which I like a lot but I see more of the Boss pedals out on gigs around here.
