I'm sending mixes to a cassette tape deck and then back into the computer. I like the result. I'm going to buy some new, blank media for this practice. But first, a question:

The deck has three settings: Normal (LH), High Cro2, and FeCr.

Now, in my experimentation, I've been using a Quantegy Type II High Bias 70 us EQ (It's about 4 years old and used--something I just had lying around).

I'm going to buy new media one way or another. Considering the three options on the tape deck, should I buy a batch of the same Quantegys? (I gather they are very high quality.) And if I do, which setting should the deck be set to?

If a different brand or type of media is better suited for my deck, which brand/type and what setting should I therefore set the deck to?

I can research what the settings mean by definition and so on. Although input from y'all would greatly help me focus my research. Thanks.

Cro2 or the chromium dioxide position, otherwise known as type II is the most common and best for finding decent media, (blank new tapes).

I recommend TDK SA60's if you can find them. They offer good, reliable sound reproduction and have a very low drop out rate.

Cheers! :)

I second that.
