Which B1 deal should I get?

I'm going to get some stuff from 8thstreet.com (unless a cheaper place can be recommended ;) ) and I can't decide which deal to get.

The obvious choice seems to be the package for $145 that includes the B1, a shock mount, stand, and cord, and pop filter. Seen here:

However, I also found a deal that has the B1, and a Presonus tube preamp for $199.99.

I think I'm going to need a preamp; all I really have right now is my old Peavey XR 600 B mixer/PA. However, I would also need that shock mount and would like to have the extra stand and cord. What would be the more logical choice?

And, are there any good deals out there for buying cheap, bulk cords and/or stands?

Well, the deal with the pre-amp seems better IMO, because you save like, $20.00 on the pre, where you spend $79.95 on the mic, and $60.00 on a mic stand a cable? pfftttt
The same cable and mic stand on that shit dont cost but like $45.00

What about this deal?

Buy the B1 and shockmount by themselves (about $100), and then buy the M-Audio Audio Buddy preamp for $80? I've heard a lot of good stuff about the Audio Buddy, would that be a good way to go?

By the way, that first deal also comes with a pop filter and shock mount, along w/ the stand and cable, so it's $65 for all 4 of those. Buying them by themselves would cost roughly $80, so it's still saving a little money, just not as much.

I bought the B1 bundle from 8th street, but it was cheaper (I think like $129.00 on sale, plus shipping $139.90 w/shipping). I have been pleased with it so far. I use it through the DMP3 preamp.

Have fun,

Falcon

I second that. Or go with a M-Audio DMP-3 pre. The Presonus is reputed to be noisy. The VTB1 is dead quiet.

I think I'm leaning towards the Audio Buddy, actually. Think that's a good move?

I don't own that one, but I've heard good things, and for the price, the Audio Buddy might be the best. Do a search on audio buddy to see what others have said. My general sense is I'd go with the Audio Buddy over the Blue Tube. See, but if I could spend that level of cash, I'd go for the VTB1.

Throw in the fact that the Audio Buddy is 2 channels and the Presonus is 1

Does the VTB-1 have phantom power supply? The Audio Buddy comes with a phantom power box.

Yes -- phantom, ability to reverse polarity, it can be used as a guitar DI box, and you can dial in a tube circuit w/o adding noise.

Get a DMP3.
That's a good bit more than I'm planning on spending right now. I'm looking to get the SP B1 mic, and hopefully some supplies with it, and the preamp for <$250

uhh.. the DMP3 & DP1 should bring you in just a tad over $250

What's a DP 1?

Here's what I'm talking about getting:
A B1 Bundle for $145
and
An Audio Buddy for $80.

Together, those go for $225.

If I were to replace the Audio Buddy with a DMP3, that would knock my total cost up to around $345, which is considerably more than I want to spend right now.

oops. A senior moment. I meant B1.

I didn't realize that stand, pop screen and cord were part of the equation. The Audio Buddy will work fine.

Good luck!

What are you going to be recording... maybe the B1 isn't your best choice.... you may want to audition the B1 before buying one.
