Hey folks.

I bought the Line 6 Toneprt which is everything I need
Mic inputs
1/4 inch guitar inputs
line inputs

I wish it had midi ins as well.

Here is the deal:

I've been having way too many problems with it and feel like I need another device.

I would like something that has all of the above mentioned features plus midi inputs as well.

The Toneport just has way too many white noise/sound issues and I'm tired of it!!

The problem I have is that I absolutley love the virtual amps they have.

If i got another interface I would have to have some kind of virtual guitar/bass/ keyboard and vocal amps is there software out there other than the L6 gearbox software??

Thanks.

In closing I really have two questions:
1. which interface is recomended
2. I need virtual amps because i just cant set up a real one.

What's your budget? What software are you running? PC or Mac?

Maybe perhaps a card/interface from M-Audio, they vary in price, but the cheapest ones are between £50 and £100, and still damn good. Then maybe buy some modelling software like Amplitube or Guitar Rig.

I'm not too familiar with modelling software, but I'm sure someone will be along eventually with more experience of them than me :)

Thanks guys

I'll be running Sonar Home Studio 4

My budget is around 200-$300

The Toneport works really nicely on the Mac. I've read about some issues on the PC side...

I don't know of another option in that price range, at least not with the modelling capabilites thrown in.

I don't usually use the Toneport as an interface, though. I use it as a processor, then bring it in through my MOTU 828. Perhaps that's another option?

You might pick up an M-Audio Fast track Pro USB. It goes for about $250.00 and comes with GT Player Express (amp and stomp box models) and it has midi in and out. I am going to pick one up myself to replace my old Omnistudio USB (the Fast Track Pro is bus powered, good for using on a laptop).

I have an M-Audio Audiophile 192 card for sale. It worked flawlessly for me. Comes with everything you would get in a new package and only used a few months. Check the forsale forum. $125. :)
