where to plug in the Y cable

ok, i just got a new Y cable, i have a behringer mixer, so it doesnt have a tape, therefore is has to be directly connected and recording on the computer.but i have no clue where to plug in the Y cable in the mixer AND in the computer. i'm not even sure i have the right Y cable (it has 1 end that goes into the mixer, and the other side which consists of two ends goes into the computer) WHAT DO I DO? please help
 
We need more info, pal. What kind of sound card is in your computer? What connections does it have? What are you trying to record? Are you recording invidual tracks simultaneously, or just one track at a time? How did you get the Y cable if you don't know it's what you need? What model Behringer mixer?

That should be enough for starters.
