Where to place these instruments??

I'm recording pretty traditional rockabilly. This is what we use.... Upright bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, vocals, and one snare drum. Pretty simple. So far on a few songs I have placed the bass and vocals dead center, electric guitar i've panned a few db's off center to the right and same for the snare but to the left. I am gonna gonna overdub and throw in the acoustic guitar. What would be the best placement?? or if anybody has completely different placements they would use for everything, i'd like to hear about it?? Peace! :cool:
 
I tend to run bass and snare dead center, guitars alternating left/right, and vocals slight panning with lead dead center for good balance.
 
when u say "vocals slight panning with lead dead center".... what exactly do u mean?? also, ive listened to a whole bunch of recordings from the 50's and it seems as if drums are pretty distant and not ever the focus. Should this always be the case nowadays??
