Where can you get 4" rigid fiberglass in Massachusetts. This kid will need 8 4'x2' slabs. How much roughly will it cost? What about enough wood for 4 8'x2' bass traps? And cloth? Estimates are fine.

also, call this number: (508) 792-1133
That is the number to Specialty Products and Insulation Company in Boston. Ask them for a quote.

Most companies sell fiberglass in bundles of 6 2" peices or 3 4" peices. You'll want the bundle of 4". If you are after OC 703, it should cost roughly $60 a bundle. If you are after mineral wool, it will probably be slightly less.

A few members around here sell OC 703 products at good prices. bpape sells bundles of OC 703 for, if i remember correctly, $60 each. Also, justabassist is looking at making panels and selling them at good prices. I believe he quoted $45 for a 4" bass trap, including the wood and fabric. You may want to look into that.

Well it's for a kid in the newbies forum. He is wanting to record a demo for his band. Is it worth him building bass traps for just a demo? I suggested lots of equipment including the presonus firepod and studio projects B1 mic, and said he could probably record not just his demo, but an album, and for others with that equipment, and experience he will gain when recording the demo.

What about mineral wool, I've heard that it's cheaper?

yea generally mineral wool is cheaper... Roxul Safe is one of the best mineral wool products out there so get that... Not only does it have excellent NRC ratings, but it has an extremely high burning point.

check out the NRC ratings for roxul Safe (4" thickness, 4.5pcf):

125hz 250hz 500hz 1000hz 2000hz 4000hz NRC

1.03___1.07___1.12___1.04___1.07____1.08___1.10

The stuff has a melting point of 2150°F (1177°C).
