I know I might be asking for bupkis answers, but then
I don't want to order foam from the net in order to look at it, feel it and sex with it. Im not sure, but Im ruling out that Home Depot has acoustic foam.
No music store I know has them.
One Sound/Lighting store I know (professional) only provides drappering for their acoustic treatments.
Is there any well known store that might be in every city?
Im too lazy to look for hours in a phonebook and call up every suspected store.

Markerfoam is the brand Im looking for as i heard it was most affordable.
My Barber has acoustical, shit is I never get haircuts from him anymore. And all he really used it for was to reinforce his entertainment system, so I take it there is a consumer level store that might sell these.Possibley.
Anyhelp?

William, I don't use foam - foam is basically a foam that has been put through a special cutter that gives it an acoustical surface made up of acoustic wedges. It absorbs down to about 800hz and then tapers off sharpley.

I use a product called insulco which is a compressed fibreglass and comes in sheets that are semi rigid - i.e. it stands up on its own without collapsing. I'd go down to my local airconditioning company and check out the insulation they use for soundproofing their metal ducts.

You can see it at the studio construction site at

Greenbacks?

How much money are we talkin for this stuff, John? American, por favor.

I've no idea of the US Bucks. It's around $16/square metre (yard) over here. :)

Hmmm...do you guys charge more for your stuff there? heh

I've had good luck with the Auralex foam - including the bass traps and so forth. They sell whole room kits. Pricy as hell, but A> the room looks really cool when it is done and B> it sounds great too, especially considering it was a super live room before. I brought it down to sorta semi-dead (some reverb, but not a heck of a lot) and I've got some wood panels I put up

(I'll have pictures up on the studio site SOON)

If you're interested (and have some bucks - like $1000) you can get dealer lists from Auralex at their web site. I ended up ordering from a relatively close (in the same province, at least) supplier, which was nice.

I know I coulda got cheaper stuff, but I'm REALLY happy with this stuff. I can't speak for much else. :)

I think Guitar Center carries Auralex ... Markerfoam is mail-order only. When you figure in the shipping charges, the price is pretty comparable to Auralex wedgies.

by the way, John ...

I think it is absolutely incredible how much progress you guys have made! Amazing!
