where to find samples?

I need some inspiration, and I'm thinking about "sampling"...does anyone know of a good site(s) for downloading samples/loops--not re-recordings of existing songs...I'm actually looking for a way to build decent backing tracks or at least find some inspiration...thanks.

...thanks fretless...what got me interested in this is about a yr ago I did some recording and mastering for a young dj...this cat had some killer lp samples...a lot of them were too hip-hop for my purposes, but some of them were killer--rhythmic, warm and lush--very stimulating (heuristic value)...I was hoping to find some similar to what he had...so far, no luck as far as freebies...I'll check the site you've posted...and yeh--if you find more sites let me/us know...thanks again.

i remember being on a site with masses of mostly really good drum loops - you know those good old vinyl crunching fat punching loops originally recorded in the 60s and even earlier, but i misplaced this one - will see if i can find it again!
