Hi All,
It has come to my attention that despite having a selection of good mics, my home studio has become completely populated by vocal mics! Doh!
This came to light when I couldn't find a mic to record the sound I wanted from a violin(/fiddle/whatever) yesterday.
Dynamics - not enough detail, NT1 - Too harsh, NTK - Too much 'breath', etc etc
I guess my next purchase is a couple of small diaphragm condensers - say - Audio Technica 3031s.
(I don't think I should stretch to the Rode or Neumann models at 2 and 3 times the price respectively) (Or Earthworks for that matter!) I am guessing that it can't just be the large diaphragm vocal condensers that the Chinese are knocking out so cheaply?
Any suggestions on tested alternatives and where is a good place to purchase on-line? (I am in the UK where kit is generally more expensive than the US etc).
Thanks,
RevF.
