Where to buy

Yo Wheels:

You can call all the 800 numbers and inquire about price; however, the data discs are going to be pretty constant in price. You do want SONY data discs.

Make sure that you are getting a SONY disc as Musician's Friend ran a scam a while back while advertising SONY, they mailed TKD.

You only have a four tracker so I guess that's all you'll be doing. The Data Disc can do 8 tracks, as I have an MD8.

You won't find a big difference in price unless you hit a special; that's why you should call those 800 numbers

Mr. Hornet, (it always pays to be respectful to a hornet)

What '800' numbers are you referring to, pray tell. Most appreciated!

The cheapest place I've found them so far is at tapeonline.com. They sell a box of 5 for around $50.00-$60.00 which breaks down to about $10.00-$12.00 each. Other places I've seen are $15.00-$18.00 each. They are a little bit more expensive if you buy them individually though.

I don't necessarily see why Sony MDD's would be better than TDK?

TDK should be a comparable media to Sony.

TDK makes CDRs and CDRWs, and they're fine, right?

MD media is basically the same as CDRW media, at the very base of it.

My actual experience is that the Sony disks are no different, I encountered the same number of errors for each of the canidates. HBB also makes them and they are probably the same. Im having a hard time these day getting disks any other way except mail order. Get what you can, for what you can afford and everything will be ok.

Peace,
Dennis

Though I hate contradicting the great Green Hornet due to his vast knowledge and willingness to always help others on this site, I agree with the others who have said there is no difference between Sony disks and TDK. In fact, look at the actual disks and you will find the that injection tooling for the outer case is identical. It seems that the Sony and TDK disks may be produced by the same vendor. Personally, I received 10 of the TDKs when Musician's Friend ran the "Sony" deal. I have had no problems at all with TDK. Wish I could say the same about the Sony products I have purchased in the past.
