just a quick question, do you guys store other music that you just listen to on your audio drive or your os drive? or does it really matter where you put it?

Well I like to have very clean and fast drives for tracking/mixing.
So I have:

SATA-RAID drives for my OS/programs.
SCSI Ultra-320 RAID for tracking/mixing and a fixed swap file partition at the end of the drive. (inactive projects are archived then deleted from these drives so they are always clean)
External Firewire drive for MP3's, downloads, archives, etc.

But for most practical purposes, you can get away with only 1 drive. But I am a performance geek.

I have set up a removeable cady for the D drive. All tunes (which is the only thing allowed in the DAW) are stored on the D drive and the operating system and programs are on C. The C drive is permanently mounted. It makes it handy when doing two or more large projects at the same time. Plus if the operating system gets hinky and I have to reformat, no data is lost.
