Where do you get your music ideas from?

Well, we could talk all day about the moral implications of illegal music downloading. There seem to be a fair number of people who back up their massive pirate mp3 collections with something about "the music industry is dumb" or "sharing doesn't hurt artists" or whatever. All a bit dubious for me -- is it coincidence that music sales started plummeting the exact moment in 2000 that Napster came out? And these days, a lot of artist are selling DIRECT on itunes and etc. -- so when u pirate their songs, you are literally deciding not to pay the person who made the music -- there is often NO record company involved now....

Anyway ... my take is that I tend to use iTunes not for any moral reason, but just because I HATE dealing with the two main problems with limewire/bearshare etc

Problem #1 -- spyware/virus/filth
Problem #2 -- lack of selection

I'm into techno/trance/electronic music almost exclusively, and a lot of the stuff is actually pretty HARD to find on limewire... I could spend hours looking for it but I prefer not.

I tend to search around on iTunes for compliation series that I feel have good selections, and then just buy whole compilations... recently I've been spending way too much money on this series --

I never listen to anyones' music apart from mine, just call me blinkered boabie , another slang name for condom perhaps? Ok, well, don't call me that:D

How do you keep yourself motivated?:D

I keep myself motivated by eating as many beans as I can each day so i can never sit still. the only thing is small talk is even harder now. "bri, what'd you have for breakfast this morning" - "beans", "brian, what are you having for lunch" - "beans" "brian i fancy a change, do you want to go out to <insert name of local sitting in food distributer> tonight?" - "do they do beans?" She left me, all because of beans. Perhaps I'm unknowingly someone else's hero, i can only hope:cool:

I pretty much listen to different music, read magazines and books, I try mostly to write either whatever comes to mind, or what I am feeling, but the latter usually sounds similar, and the former sometimes makes no sense. If you have something that sounds cool, even if it is just at the time and it blows later, always write it down, that is what I do. Don't throw stuff away unless there is absolutely nothing more you can get out of it. I have several notebooks filled with crap, but I haven't thrown them out, in fact I've highlited a few, which i need to continue doing, btw.

Pools of imagination

Open up my minds window,
Let forth the muse that flows,
dripping from my finger tips,
so not to distrurb there shape,
Quite,soundless,vibrations,

Anyway, songs run thru me like dreams,The more I try to grasp them the more they seemto change and twist like smoke.
The birth of an ideal comes like a flash of lightning.
It burns an imprint on the back of my brain.
My job is to interpete the vision as close as possible without interfering.
Somtimes just grapping at the ideal it sticks to my fingers like taffy
and as I pull the ideal out of my mind
it changes shape and twist into somthing different.

Then you pull out the hammer and anvil and bang it into a reasonable enought song format.
Bla.bla,bla
(I just stuck my finger down my mind and threw up)

Bardo:eek:

heres what I do once in a while.

go to www.taxi.com and check out there listings..see what there looking for.then listen to a few songs by the artist's they mention...and try to write a few!!!

I also try to write a song a day even if it's crap..practice ya know!
It is also a good idea to get one of those little recorders that you can carry around, just incase you get an idea you can at least hum it into the recorder so you dont forget it!! hope I helped a little
