I definately wanna have a go at recording on my computer and give my trusty MkII a well earned rest. However as a student I don't have a lot of cash to be throwing around aimlessly and so I thought n-track would be the perfect entry point into the field. Does anyone have reason why I should NOT use n-track - is it seriously flawed in any way with it being drastically cheaper than anthing else on the market?

Seriously flawed? At $35? I think you're missing the point about n-track. Get the free demo and play with it. It doesn't work at all on my system and I still like it better than Power Tracks Pro ($29)! That may sound silly, but I'm talking about the design of the user interface. And plenty of folks here use it on a regular basis to make great sounding recordings. Ask around in the n-track forum.
