huh? I did some tracking tonite and somehow the wave files didn't show up where I wanted them. This haden't happened before. I can't find them anywhere! I can hear them, so I know that they exist somewhere on one of my hard drives. The files aren't in the default folder. not in the folder I specified. I'm stumped. help!

I found them. I just didn't thave things configured right. I'm learning...

but...

now I just want to back it up. So I save the project as a bundle file. The thing that I just don't get is why it compacts the wavedata. So now everything is just one big file? huh? I don't want to back that up. I want to back up all of the original wav files. What is the point in compacting the Data? This is rediculus. In Vegas, all you have to do is save it and render all the data to a new folder, in Cubase, you prepare an archive from the pool. So it seems I'll have to manually move the files I want to back up. This is rediculus. HOw am I supposed to find the 12 wave files I want to back up among the 30 files that are in the wavedata folder? There has to be an easier way.

Finding what files are in what project

You can identify the indivdual files associated with a project using the CWAF tool available at Cakewalk's FTP Site It will help you to know what files are with what project.

As far as the compacting data issue goes, CW does this to kinda defrag the project. Do you ever do many takes with deletions and cuts and punch-ins and such. All this creates dead files on the drive and can create dropouts in your project if they are spread all over hill and dale.

The CWAF will also identify these 'orphaned' files so you can delete them safely.

Hope this helps.
