where are all the 788 users?

hey,

when I first came to this site there were some 788 users that posted their songs here.. I haven't seen them around in a long time..

If anyone has any 788 recordings, I would love to hear them.. The guys who used to post there 788 tunes, never posted in the clinic, so my question is,

Where the heck are ya?


If you have any tunes recorded with the 788, drop a link here. I would like to hear what others are doing with this machine..

Oh yeah, and I forgot somone started a group for 788 mp3's, I think it was called station 788 or something like that.

hey philboyd, I'm listening to 'Cottonwood' right now.. I think I remember this tune, and it sounds excellent.. nice clean sound your getting. I'm suprised you didn't post this in the clinic.. Are you using an expensive preamp? 'Darlin' is playing right now, and it sounds just as good.. What type of mics are you using?

good stuff! Someone started a site for 788 recordings? I'm going to search for it.. If I remember correctly, wasn't there a bunch of other guys around? bpf? This Tascam forum is looking a little light lately..


dtb, you posted 2 songs recently? I only heard one and it sounded sweet.. I'll look for the other one in the clinic..
 
Hey, ....free advertisement....

...Been very happy w/ this little unit. I was shocked that you could get something w/ sound quality this good for that price. ...I started recording last December after an 8 year hiatus, and was very impressed w/ how far portable recorders (and recording technology in general) had come in that time....... sure sounds better than the ole fostex 4 track cassette machines:D http://www.nowhereradio.com/guernica/singles
 
Mine are available from linked WWW button. All recorded, mixed and effected, (pre)mastered 100% from the 788.

The instruments and mics very widely from track to track, but usually I use Studio Projects C-1's or Oktava 012's. The chain from there is Blue Kiwi cables to a Presonus preamp (or sometimes an Event EMP-1) to a dbx 266xl compressor, to the 788. From the 788 I use the S/PDIF out to Sound Forge 5.0 for editing and 'mastering'. When I remember, I'll make a different mix there for mp3's by cutting everything below 60hz and above 15khz so as to fatten up what remains when it's compressed into the mp3 format. Sometimes I'll add a touch of reverb in Sound Forge but usually just stick with the effects on the 788.
