I need to look at words to write some stuff I'll be happy with. My head sucks at coming up with words. This may be cause I'm trying to write in english which is my second language, but it's even worst in french so I'm confused.

I was wondering if any of you experimented reading random words in the dictionnary while composing. It's working better that way for me. Post any comments if you feel like it.

Also, do you feel like you need to play the music and find the words to sing on it, or write the words down and then find a melody that fits the words? Or maybe both at the same time...

actually when I get stuck on something, I get someone to give me fifteen or so random words and I use them to write a song. This is kind of like your random word in the dictionary thing and I have found out that this works really well. (not everytime though because sometimes the song ends up being totally ridiculous, but nevertheless it gets me un- stuck)

I usually come up with an idea for the lyric. Then I write the music for the whole song and then I finish the rest of the lyric. Whether the music or the words comes first is totally an individual thing because this process depends on which side of the brain is being used (depending on which hand you're writing with), which side of your brain is naturally dominate, the handwriting that you use. Every person has a different combination of these three aspects and therefore whether the words or the music comes first is totally an individual issue. lauren
