whats wrong???????

I've just recently set up all my equiptment for recording on my PC, here's how it works:

-guitar through DI and/or mic
-into eurorack mx802a mixing board
-into VIA soundcard
-recorded on Cakewalk HomeStudio 2000

the problem is on my second track, I use the playback to record ontop of my first track, and when its recorded and I play it back, the second track has a delay on it. Its recording about 1/2 a second to a full second behind when I'm playing it. Whats the problem; is it my mixer, computer, soundcard........?

I really need help on this one, thanks a lot.

Do you have Input Monitoring enabled? If so, disable it.

In Sonar this is done via Options -> Audio -> Input Monitoring. Not sure about Home Studio.
