What's wrong with my computer?

that is definately a possibility. i would say that it's either the ram or onboard video, as long as everything is connected correctly. no chance that you have an extra stick of ram to try? if you try using the video card and you still get nothing. i would say it's the ram.

btw, i'm about in the same boat as creamyapples1..........i've built a few machines and have fixed more than i ever wanted to.

I'm willing to bet it's the ram, just cause i've pretty much crossed off all other possibilities other than mobo and the ram, and i've tested with 2 mobo's.

I wouldn't rule out the possibilities of the harddrive either being bad, or having a buggy install on it. There are 3 sets of 2 pins on the back of the hard drive with a jumper on one set. Cable select, Primary(master), Secondary(slave). Can you find out what those are set to? Also make sure your harddrive cable is running to the proper IDE slot on the board. You could have them backwards, not that it would totally matter but I've had it screw up like that before.

in picture 1886 why is that not plugged into the mainboard? (the 4 pin white thing) that is a +12 power and you may need it for the mainboard to work

Earlier AMD chips don't require the extra 4 pin plug from the power supply, on most low end AMD boards, there isn't even a place to plug it in.

Well, if you're talking about what i think you are, (primary, secondary, FDD connector), then they are plugged in correctly, cause they couldn't even fit the other ways. But uhm, i noticed that yesterday when i was trying to adjust something i had hit the fan for the processor and it apparently died. granted, the computer didn't work before, but until i actually have it working correctly, how important would it be to replace that. LIke, as long as i don't have to computer on for mroe than 5 minutes at a time should it matter?

Also, I just noticed, while trying to mess around and (successfully) get the fan working again, now there's this click when i turn on the computer that just keeps clicking every like, half second. Kind of like when you can't turn over your car and it is completely dead, the spark plug sound. Dead battery maybe?
