Hey guys,
I'm a 16 year old musician from alabama, just started recording stuff

you can hear a coupla my songs at
http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=3463&alid=763
(emptiness is probably the better of the 2)

anyways...

I'm recording cheesily, I'm recording through a bass amp hooked up to my mic port on my computer...

I was wondering, what is the most inexpensive un-cheesy way to record stuff on computer? like do I need a soundboard or anything..

I'm kinda illiterate when it comes to sound equipment but i do know alot more about music lol

so yeah..

Have a good night.

Well, Basically the inexpensive and expensive way to do recording is the same. All you need is a mixer and a soundcard. The inexpensive way is to go with a behringer/mackie mixer and a good m-audio soundcard(soundblaster is even inexpensive). You dont want to hear the expensive way now LOL :D

Yeah, let the expensive way slowly sneak up on him, like it did the rest of us impoverished studio rats...

8^p

first, I'd use the line-in instead of the mic in on the soundcard that you have, the quality will be much better. You need to visit the Computer Recording and Soundcard forum. Once there, read read read, and ask ask ask. You will be suprised at how much you learn and how fast it comes to you as well.

You mean to say 'Let it hit him on the head with a credit card.'

Yeah, let him get two months behind on his truck note because he has a fettish with buying mic pre amps that are out of his price range. Oh wait, thats me. Crap!
