A groove box has feeling, a drum machine doesn't.

Maybe, maybe not.

A groove box can swing, a drum machine can't.

I don't know.

I think they may be synonymous.

A groovebox typically has more than just drum sounds, is more focused on being self-contained, and has sounds geared towards modern dance music.

So, go on.. what does a groove box do that a drum machine doesn't? In detail please... thanks.

Drum machines usually just have drum sounds on them. Groove boxes usually have synth sounds too e.g the Roland MC-505 etc.

Drum machines can swing too BTW, at least, the Boss DR770 can.

You can do a whole track on a groove box. i.e. drums, bass line, pads, leads, melodies. Everything except a vocal. Drum machines just do drums.
