I'm currently recoring onto my pc using cakewalk's guitar tracks II. The soundcard I am using is a SoundBlaster Live! card. My problem is that when i record the track the level is so high that it distorts everything when recording and when the tracks are played back. I tried messing around with the mixer for my soundblaster card by raising and lowering the record level and also the microphone level. Is there a level meter on the console view of guitar tracks that I am missing? What do i have to doto have a clean tone when recording? Thanx

Are you using the mic in or the line in?the mic in has a built in preamp that isnt very good,so you should consider using the line in if you have some sort of preamp available if not try turning of the mic boost,if its on that should make it sound a little better,Randy5235

i've tried plugging into line out and it won't record anything. The only one that works with my puter is the mic out plug-in. Let me just fill you in on what kind of puter i have. (i will warn you that i am about as knowlegable of my computer than as home recording, so bear with me) I just bought a brand new Gateway performance computer that is 700 speed and has 21 gig hard drive on it. And that is about all i know off the top of my head. (i am currently at work and cannot remember the specs of it)
