What's the best cheap sound card that has 1 or 2 xlr inputs?

Sorry I don't know ver much about this. I just want to record some acousticy stuff
 
You might consider one of the low cost digital recorders. Zoom, Tascam and Fostex all have boxes under $300 with dual XLR inputs. They all have easy USB transfer to/from the computer yet still give you the flexibility to record without the computer present.
 
http://www.alesis.com/product.php?id=8 there's also the Alesis I|O 2. nice interface. pretty nice preamps, firewire. only 2 channel but both are XLR with phantom power. MIDI i|o as well. Can also accept guitar level signals for direct recording.
