I currently battling the issue of whats the best editing program Premire Pro 1.5, Vegas 4.0 or Final Cut Pro. Let me know somebody

I only know Vegas. What do you want to do?

Vegas has excellent audio and video editing capabilities, and I've never had it crash on me.

wow ive been waiting for a thread like this I LOVE VIDEO EDITING! if your even talking about video editing or audio editing ..i dont know but anyways!

I am a vegas user and from my point of view i see premiere to be much more advanced with greater capibilites but vegas also has many superbe features and is very user friendly ......... i have made over 40 videos with vegas and i love every single one of them vegas does an exceptional job but i think if you got to know premiere good you could do all the same stuff as vegas AND MORE

I LOVE IT!!!

If you are 'going for it', and need a pro job and have the time to learn it, Premiere Pro. I've got it and it can do the job. However, my workplace has moved to Final Cut Pro, which is even more capable... even if it is on Macs. (Ducks, runs like a mad mf'er!)

I'd say any video editing differences between the three are minor. However, when it comes to audio, Vegas is significantly better than the other two. I think Vegas' UI is better than the other two, but I guess I'm biased.

All 3 are pretty "pro" apps.

I say:
- if you are getting a mac, of course Final Cut. It's a greatprogram.
- If you want to do a lot with audio too, Vegas.
- If you have the time and patience, Premiere.

Again though, you post this in the Vegas part of the forum - and the only people who look at this are probably vegas users.
I'll rep vegas over the other 2 overall though....whether or not it's true. ha.

V6 has a ton of new imporovments, esp. for dual proccessors (so I've read).

Final Cut Pro is an editing monster. Right up there with mid level Avid systems. Premiere is not much behind, but if you add After Effects to it, You've got software that will rival any high end Avid system. It'll take a couple of years of paid training and seminars to realize its full potential, but you'll be ready to challenge Speilberg. Add Lightwave or 3dsMax and you can make the next LOTR or Star Wars.

Premiere is definitely better but sometimes it appears to be a pain in the neck.... ay be I need to over clock my computer again :)

IF your doing mac the Final cut is a no brainer. If PC. then Vegas over premiere for stability and audio. There are a lot of forums mentioning the diff between Avid (industry standard) and premiere. If your only going to edit in DV or HD and not upgrading the project to a turnkey system, then I would do Vegas over Premiere. Especially since Vegas has now nesting capabilities, Dual layer burning and use AIFF files vs OMF like Avid. If your planning to upgrade to a turnkey then go Avid HD Pro. It is part of larger family and pretty universal. But the learning curve is extremely steep not to mention $$$.
