Whats a finalizer? What does it do ?

Its a fairly well endowed (for the price) set of digital mastering tools in a 1u rack. To some its acceptable entry level mastering equipment to others its a shameful mockery. Its a useful tool, IMO, if used properly. Mine does a lot of work cleaning up spoken word performances and audio for video.

Take care,
Chris

Well... If I mix something for an inde and they can't afford pro mastering I'll sure run it into this. It's not the best thing to do, but great for a studio with clients that don't plan on getting it mastered.

It's good to get those demos "radio ready"

But if I have time I'll run a good EQ into it instead of the built in EQ.

Are you also interested in the term finalizing bonesy?

So...

So finalizing in that sense of the word is synonymous with normalizing?

Cheers :-)

Ummm, nope! That would be NORMALIZING, which is bad.

These guys are refferring to the TC Finalizer unit.

The act of finalizing is when the whole audio file is raised simultaneously from the highest peak of the audio file to 0db.

A "swiss army knife" of mediocre mastering tools.

Can you get good results with it if you know what you're doing?

Yes.
