Got a friend offering to sell me his

I've heard you can run drums through them, though they are designed as a gutiar/bass pre.

What do you guys think of them?

They are pretty good - i have not heard the 1.1's of course... what would you expect to achieve by running drums through them I must ask?
For guitars they certainly can do the job, and basses as well, but like anything you just need to be aware that everything has its own flavour. I had one of these but sold it back to the owner I bought it from as I used a real amp more. That is just me... I may regret selling it one day ... mainly for the bass though...

I was wondering why you would put drums through them too....

also Ronan in this thread seems to use it for drums as well !?

Okay so it is primarily done to make it grittier. Looking at the age of those posts, I wonder if there is not a better way to do it now. or at least... different...
hell try running them through a guitar amp for real.. or a tape sim at high compression.. I guess there are many way to do this... some may be as good , or better, and cheaper than a sansamp... even though the sansamp is quite cheap for what it is..

Just bought one for 360US, i'll post up some drum/bass/guitar samples when it arrives

i bought one years ago and i wasn't a guitarist back then :)

but a drummer!
i love using distortion on tracks via AUX, the psa1 can be awesome on vocals and drums, you don't need to use too much aux return and it'll do wonders.

last year a bassist joined our band, i gave him my sansamp so he could practice at home. Since then he doesn't want to play without!! Sometimes he plays bass-trough-sansamp-to-PA, or just in front of his amp. Its nice how you can change your sound without having to touch the EQ of your amp.

Now i'm also playing guitar and thats another reason not to sell this thing. I just won't record lead tracks with it, only extra dubs, solos and short hits. IMHO a real (tube) amp always sounds best, never heard a pedal or signal chain that is fatter than our 4*12 Hiwatt cabinet... mhhhhhhh

you won't regret trying one
