i have a budget of €150 and was looking at a few USB mics on the market

1) Samson G Track
2) T.BONE SC450
3) Audio Technica AT2020 USB ( out of my price range )

i live in Ireland and can buy overseas as long as the shipping doesn't go over my budget

Please i need advice if there are any better mics out there then i'd appreciate if i could get suggestions

P.S i Rap and am looking to get into singing. I also already own the Samson CO1U USB version

I don't want to sound like a dick but if you have one USB mic I'd stick with that. Save your money and buy an interface with phantom power and get a real mic. It will last you for years and will be better in the long run.

None.

USB mics are basically built for podcasting (internet chat shows).

* Poor Analog>Digital converters.
* Poor monitoring making it difficult to record over other tracks.
* Short cords putting more computer noise into the recording.

Get a REAL 24-bit audio interface and standard mics....

+1. Get a proper interface and one good mic, then start adding mics to your collection as budget allows.

What are you hoping to achieve with a new mic?
If it's better quality recording then probably replacing 1 low end USB mic with another low end USB mic will just be throwing money away

yes better quality is what i'm aiming for

I'd sell the one you have and add that to you $150 budget, save up a bit more and get a real interface and mic.

Then, unfortunately, buying another simillarly specced USB mic is probably going to be an exercise in futility, unless of course the one you currently have is completely broken and that is why you are looking at buying another one.
Just cos it says it's great and "PRO" on the box doesn't make it so.

Assuming the one you already have works you would be better served by messing around with it in all different spots to find where the recording sounds best, and then practicing your vocals and mic technique to get your recording sounding as absolutley great as possible with what you have already.

By then you will have had time to save for an actual, real step up in quality of mic, plus your vocal and mic technique will also be that much better so you will get a double whammy. A better quality capture of a better quality vocal. KAPOW!

I'd agree with the sentiments to go to a different setup. USB mics blow the big one for any kind of quality musical recording purposes.

You might do well with a decent quality dynamic mic, which in some cases can come close to a cheaper-quality preamp/condenser mic setup, but for much less money (especially since dynamics don't require a preamp).

Check out Shure SM57's, Sennheiser E602's or the Shure SM58, or ask a music store about the next step up on dynamics. You might be surprised.

Only ask get an answer, then walk away to ponder --- I tend to never trust a salesperson in a store live or on line.

Yes - look at the CEntrance MicPort Pro.

Good ADC/DAC and will do what you want at a reasonable cost.

Then use the mic. of your choice.
