what to use to quite my computer?

i heard somewhere that you can make a box to go over your computer to quiet it down. what would be a good material to use that is sound proof, and not to much $$$?

i think its simpler to just install a switch in your fans power so you can turn it off when your going to record , the fan is what makes all the noise.. just dont turn it off for too long !! only as long as your recording..

you could always muffle it with pillows.. that also works..

i thought about that but it's my bro's computer and he wouldn't go for that. he thinks it would burn it up. my only option is some sort of cover. do you know how sound proof they are?
